  Fast Multigrid and Multilevel Solvers in Applications

Fast numerical solvers for PDEs have to compete with available commercial codes on one hand and with a huge number of academic software on the other hand. Our strategy for competitive solvers takes advantage of problem specific information in combination with an efficient implementation and parallelization. This will be illustrated inside a medical source reconstruction problem with our solver PEBBLES as ingredient. Furthermore, the parallelization concept will be used for a parallelization of the inverse problem solver. Experiences with multilevel/multigrid techniques in other applications will be presented.
