Minischool on Quantum Information Theory and Quantum Computing
May 31 - June 02, 2010
Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences
Sixteen years after Shor discovered a polynomial time algorithm for factoring large numbers, quantum computation has become an important field of research, leading to many interesting mathematical questions. In particular finding suitable generalizations of the results from classical information theory in order to develop a quantum information theory is a task which still faces a lot of problems.
The goal of this minischool is to introduce researchers working in information geometry, statistics and related topics to the quantum world. The lectures will start with a general introduction to principles of quantum mechanics and quantum computing, followed by an overview over entanglement. In the end there will be talks about current research questions in quantum information theory.
The school is open for external participants free of charge. For organizational purpose we would be grateful if you could register by sending a mail.
