Robust Meshing on Bad CAD Data
Ferdinand Kickinger (AVL, Graz)

When generating a mesh the description of the geometry becomes a critical point when it is imported from a CAD system. This data is always noisy. There are always gaps, wrong orientated parts or overlapping patches in it. This causes major problems when meshing these parts. In this talk, a method will be presented which allows to overcome these problems by generating the mesh whithout previous surface meshing. This allows bad CAD data and overcomes most of the problems induced by insufficient quality of the given geometry. This algorithms will also be tested on industrial examples.
