My name is Irina Bobrova. I am a postdoc in Anna Wienhard’s group at the MPI MiS since November 2023.

I was seriously fascinated by mathematics at Faculty of Mathematics of Higher School of Economics in Moscow, where I have done my master’s and postgraduate studies. The PAUSE program in France had me a chance to graduate from the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne and obtain my second PhD in mathematics. I have been involved in the study of integrable systems and Painlevé equations by my scientific advisors Vladimir Poberezhnyi, Vladimir Rubtsov, and Vladimir Sokolov. Regarding the Painlevé equations, they arise naturally from the geometry of rational surfaces and are connected with the cluster algebras, the investigation of which in a non-commutative framework is now my present research. Thanks to the MPI, I had met a lot of exciting people and started a couple of fruitful projects with several of them.

Besides the mathematics and living in Germany, I enjoy hiking and cycling. I also love exploring art and architecture, learning to dance ballet and play the ukulele. As a fan of literature, I attend two book clubs in Leipzig and read a lot.
