Ringvorlesung on Geometry

I shall first start this term's Ringvorlesung on Geometry with 4 lectures on notions of space and basic concepts of geometry, like metric spaces, manifolds, varieties, schemes, and also a brief introduction to Riemannian geometry. Afterwards, my colleagues Tho, Schwarz, and Rudolph will take over.

I shall discuss fundamental notions from algebra and geometry with a view towards complex systems and theoretical biology. This course is also intended to be an opportunity to learn or review important parts of mathematics that may not have been adequately covered in your prior education.
