Antonio Lerario

Antonio Lerario is a professor at SISSA, Trieste. He has worked on algebraic topology, subriemannian geometry, symplectic geometry, and real algebraic geometry.

More recently he got fascinated by the possibility of looking at real algebraic geometry from a probabilistic point of view — replacing the word “generic”, from complex algebraic geometry, with the word “random”. This approach offers new interpretations of classical topics and connects various fields of mathematics: convex geometry, representation theory, enumerative geometry...

He has visited the Nonlinear Algebra group for a few months in Spring 2018, getting inspiring ideas from many people at the MPI MiS. A most enjoyable period!

Besides mathematics, Antonio likes jazz music, enjoys coffee and is in love with food.
