Professor Ulrike Tillmann works in algebraic topology and homotopy theory. Her works have contributed to a new and better understanding of quantum field theory and so to the solution of fundamental problems in geometry and topology. In 2002 she was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Peking. In 2004 she was awarded the Whitehead Prize of the London Mathematical Society and in 2008 the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Prize for research of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
