Purpose of the conference

The purpose of this conference is to commemorate the great mathematician Sophus Lie, who was a Professor at Leipzig University during his most productive years 1886-1898 and who died in 1899. The conference is devoted to Sophus Lie's work and his impact on modern mathematics.

Expenses

There will be no registration fee. However, you will have to pay your expenses for travel, accommodation, etc.

Announcement: Related Workshop at Clausthal

It may be of interest for you that the workshop "Lie Theory and Its Applications in Physics" is to be held at the Technical University of Clausthal, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany, during July, 11-14, 1999. Since Clausthal-Zellerfeld is located only approx. 250 km from Leipzig, you may easily join both conferences if interested.
