Developments in the Mathematical Sciences 2020: DIMS 2020

May 07 - 08, 2020
Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences

We are sorry to inform you that the conference DIMS 2020 is postponed to January 2021 - details will be announced soon. We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Founded more than 20 years ago, the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences is an important research center. The mission of the institute is to conduct cutting-edge research in mathematics; the connection to the sciences is not limited to bring mathematical tools and concepts to an application, but also to condense scientific questions into fertile mathematical problems. However, given our size, topics covered in the institute are limited. Yet, many fascinating developments happen in the mathematical sciences all the time.

In 2019, in order to overcome this limitation, we started the conference series “Developments in the Mathematical Sciences”, which is meant to give insights in recent developments. Now we continue this series and aim to discuss current trends and gain an overview of today’s mathematical landscape – in particular with respect to the label “Mathematics in the Sciences”. Speakers will motivate their work and embed it into a general context. Talks will be accessible to mathematicians from a wide range of backgrounds. There will be ample time for questions and informal interactions.
