Computing degrees of Bergman fans in funny ways

There are several ways of computing the degree of varieties, but the most basic one is to intersect your variety with a line.

We will be doing the same in the tropical world. With the techniques developed we will compute the likelihood degeneracy degree of a matroid and recover a result from Agostini et al.

In this talk, we will introduce the Bergman fan of a matroid, our tropical variety of interest, study its combinatorics, and identify its degree with the number of so called nbc bases.
