Abstract

Abelian varieties in dimension higher than one are notoriously hard to represent using equations. If we restrict ourselves to the case of finite fields, the abelian varieties can be functorially described using certain finitely generated modules over rings called orders. In this talk, we will see how such descriptions allow us to study and classify the varieties up to isomorphism.
