Barriers, harmonic maps and perturbations

In this talk, we report on barriers for harmonic maps and investigate their behaviour under metric perturbations of the target. A key role is played by a version of generalised convexity (pullvexity) and how it interacts with perturbations. Using maximum principle arguments, we (re)obtain rigidity statements for harmonic maps (and also minimal submanifolds) in special geometries.
