Abstract

"Chiseling" is an algebraic tool for finding a good basis in which to represent a tensor. In this talk, I will give an outline of the method, and discuss to what extent it can be used to recover Chow and Grassmann decompositions of symmetric and skew-symmetric tensors.

This talk is based on joint work in progress with Daniele Taufer and Nick Vannieuwenhoven.
