Geometric structures from cyclic Higgs bundles

Starting from Baraglia's thesis, several constructions of geometric structures associated with representations of surface groups coming from cyclic Higgs bundles have been introduced. I will present a unifying point of view on these constructions, and explain how with Parker Evans we used this point of view to construct geometric structures associated with cyclic Higgs bundles into the exceptional Lie group $G_2'$.
