Numerical Replication of Theoretical Bounds on the Nusselt Number for Infinite Prandtl number Rayleigh-Benard Convection

Abstract
There has been a serious body of work regarding upper bounds on the Nusselt number in the case of Rayleigh-Benard Convection. Using the background field method, one can split the temperature into a mean profile dependent on one height dimension, and a fluctuation profile. This talk will explain how one can begin numerically replicating the upper bounds on the Nusselt number that have been achieved with this method.
