Abstract

Pseudo-Anosov and Anosov flows on three-manifolds have been studied since the 1960s due to their interesting dynamical properties, connections to the geometry and topology of their underlying manifolds, their contact structures, and the properties of their fundamental groups. In recent years, the introduction of veering triangulations has made it possible to prove some results that were previously out of reach. In this talk, I will outline the connection between pseudo-Anosov flows and veering triangulations, and discuss some of my results that make use of it.
