Rigidity of group actions

Abstract
This talk will be a survey of recent developments in and around the Zimmer program. After some motivation the survey will more or less start at the work I did with Brown and Hurtado that proved what is known as Zimmer's conjecture and then try to give some sense of the exciting activity since then. Too much is happening for me to mention all the exciting recent results, but I will highlight some I find particularly appealing.
