As of December 1, 2019, Michael Joswig (TU Berlin) will join our institute as Max Planck Fellow. The Max Planck Fellow Programme promotes cooperation between outstanding university professors and Max Planck Society researchers. So, while staying full professor at TU Berlin, Michael Joswig will lead a research group on Mathematical Software at MPI MiS.
Michael Joswig is interested in all aspects of polyhedral, tropical and algorithmic geometry, and this includes topics such as optimization and combinatorial topology. See here for an overview of ongoing and past projects. In addition he enjoys to design and apply mathematical software, the main project being polymake. For more details on Michael Joswig you can check his personal website at TU Berlin. He was also featured as Nonlinear Algebra Person in Summer 2018.
These interests also describe the focus of the new research group. If you want to be part of this group, you should check our call for postdocs and PhD students.
