Since their introduction in François Labourie's seminal 2004 paper, Anosov representations have been a driving force in the study of discrete subgroups of higher-rank Lie groups, and have helped to stimulate two decades of research in the area.
In partnership with the Clay Mathematics Institute, we celebrated 20 years of progress in the field with a conference and Young Researchers Workshop which brought together researchers studying the geometric, dynamical, and algebraic aspects of Anosov representations, as well as their connections to other topics.
The Clay lecture was given by François Labourie from the University Côte d'Azur, France on the topic “Double uniformisations’ cousin: complex projective spaces and anti de Sitter space”. In this interview with Xenia Flamm and Jeff Danciger, he provides insights into the interplay between geometry and dynamics, reflecting on the history of a paper whose concept became highly influential in the field of research, as well as his personal journey in mathematics, his promotion of young scientists, and the role of the mathematical community.
