Our research group leader Anna-Laura Sattelberger was recently selected to the Young Academy | Mainz, the early-career program of the Academy of Sciences and Literature | Mainz. Her appointment recognizes her outstanding scientific achievements and comes with a four-year membership.
Anna-Laura is particularly drawn to the integrative character of the Young Academy and is looking forward to discussing current topics across disciplines within its working groups: “I am very much looking forward to the exchange with the researchers at the Academy and I am excited about gaining new perspectives from different disciplines.” She hopes the diverse network will provide mutual inspiration and new impulses: “Interdisciplinarity is important to me because different fields can benefit from one another’s approaches and ways of thinking, allowing new connections to emerge”, she says.
A central mission of the Young Academy is particularly committed to this cross-cutting character in the sense of interdisciplinary and intergenerational dialogue. The appointed researchers are encouraged to actively participate in the Academy’s meetings and events and to engage in exchange with members of the established scholarly community. In addition, they have the opportunity to organize their own events and to develop new initiatives—particularly within working groups that address current research questions from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The newly selected members will be officially welcomed to the Academy at a formal opening event in April.
We warmly congratulate her and wish her every success in her work within this exciting interdisciplinary network.
