Hello! My name is Teresa Yu, and I have been a postdoc in the Nonlinear Algebra group at the MPI MiS in Leipzig since August 2025. Previously, I was a PhD student at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where my advisor was Andrew Snowden.

I am interested in commutative algebra, especially in applied, computational, and equivariant aspects. My research encompasses a broad range of topics, including algebraic statistics, equivariant modules over infinite polynomial rings, and connections between standard monomial theory and representation theory. Since joining the Nonlinear Algebra group, I have really enjoyed learning about applications of algebra to fields like particle physics, machine learning, and quantum chemistry.

Outside of math, I like reading, hiking, and baking. I have enjoyed exploring Leipzig and Germany, and look forward to seeing more!
