Dominic Bunnett

Dominic Bunnett is a postdoc at TU Berlin. He received his PhD in 2019 at the FU Berlin under the supervision of Victoria Hoskins. After receiving his PhD, he spent some months in Oxford visiting Frances Kirwan before joining the TU Berlin to work in the group of Bernd Sturmfels and Michael Joswig.

Dominic's research is in Algebraic Geometry, specifically in moduli theory, both of varieties and of algebraic objects (sheaves, quiver representations and holomorphic triples). At the moment he is working on several projects all with the common theme of computing topological invariants of moduli spaces. The moduli spaces consist of objects varying from tropical plane curves to objects in a derived category, to hypersurfaces in weighted projective space. He is particularly interested in using the latest computational techniques and mathematical software to aid and expand these computations: The MPI MiS is a natural and inspiring place for this!

Dominic has been involved in mathematics in Zimbabwe and Tanzania, and feel strongly that developing research mathematics in these countries is important. Outside of mathematics, he is a keen reader and a musician.
