Joseph Landsberg
Joseph (JM) Landsberg has broad research interests: Cartan style differential geometry, classically influenced algebraic geometry, the geometry of homogeneous varieties, categorical generalizations of Lie algebras, the geometry and application of tensors, and most recently, algebraic complexity theory. His work in complexity theory is focused primarily on the complexity of matrix multiplication and on Valiant’s permanent v. determinant problem.
He recently visited MPI MiS to work with Mateusz Michalek on "Finding explicit tensors on high border rank" and also to work with M. Michalek and Jaroslav Shitov on "Geometric aspects of Strassen’s and Comon’s conjectures".
