Petra Schwer
Petra Schwer currently is a professor for Geometry at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg - which is not far from Leipzig. Her research is in geometric group theory, combinatorial representation theory, and algebraic combinatorics.
She particularly likes spaces of non-positive curvature and anything related to Coxeter groups and buildings. She recently gave a talk on "What is a building and why do we care?" during the "Summer School on Randomness and Learning in Non-Linear Algebra". Her visit to the MPI and Leipzig University was a great chance to get to know new people and to discuss new ideas. It's great to have such a lovely research place nearby!
