Yassine El Maazouz
Yassine El Maazouz is a third-year student at Ecole Polytechnique (1st year of the master's degree) studying both pure and applied mathematics, mainly: Probability, Statistics, Tropical and Algebraic Geometry.
He is currently working on extending gaussian distributions to local-fields especially the field of p-adic numbers. He is also working on the tropicalization of discrete rational MLE models under the supervision of Prof. Bernd Sturmfels and will be starting his PhD in statistics at U.C. Berkeley starting fall of 2019.
In addition to his passion for mathematics, Yassine enjoys playing football and hiking and also likes listening to classical music.
