My name is Lisa Sauermann and I am currently an Assitant Professor at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). I completed my PhD in 2019 at Stanford University, and was a post-doc at Stanford University and at the IAS (Institute for Advanced Study) before joining MIT in 2021.
My main research area is extremal combinatorics, but my research also has connections to algebra, number theory, probability theory and theoretical computer science. In particular, in my work I often apply algebraic methods to problems in combinatorics.
I am originally from Dresden, which is fairly close to Leipzig. My first visit to Leipzig was when I was around 10 years old and visited the zoo with my family. In the summer of 2022, I visited Leipzig and the MPI MiS twice, in order to give a colloquium and a talk at a conference for students.
