Bielefeld-Leipzig online seminar: Mathematics of Machine Learning
- Lecturer: Benjamin Gess
- Date: tent. Wednesdays 16:15-17:45
- Room: Videobroadcast
AbstractIn this online course we aim to get acquainted with some of the recent progress in the mathematical understanding and theory of machine learning. Particular emphasis will be laid upon the generalization error and on the training of neural networks, i.e. non-convex optimization, and overparameterization. The aim of the course is to get an overview of a series of recent articles and the methods developed therein. The course is directed to non experts with a solid background in mathematics aiming to get an idea of recent progress in the mathematics of machine learning. Active contribution in form of a presentation of a research paper (to be chosen) is required for each participant.
- Due to the pandemic, it is mandatory to register for a lecture series before attending one of the lectures. For this registration, we simply use the mailing list for the lecture series. So, if you plan to attend a lecture (series), please subscribe the mailing list which is linked below the respective lecture.
- Obviously, this rule is only valid for in-person lectures. However, even for the online events it might be a good idea to subscribe. This way, you will receive the information on how to attend the online meetings.
