Eberhard Zeidler Library

We have one goal – to provide one of the world's best mathematics libraries

Our library collection aims at serving the institute’s central point of research: The intersection of mathematics and the sciences. Here you can find our complete Call number list.

The library of the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences is offering its services mainly to the institute’s scientists. Of course, it is open to all interested visitors.

For Students of Library Sciences

Internship for students

We provide students of library sciences with the opportunity to gain a broad insight into the work of a specialized scientific library for a period of at least three months. We offer the entire spectrum of modern librarianship, from classical library services to innovative ones, from everyday public relations to the programming for new services.

If you are looking for an internship in an international environment, in a small team and with diverse tasks and IT challenges, please send your application to: bewerbung.bibliothek@mis.mpg.de

FaMI training

From 2003 to 2019, we trained ten highly motivated young people to become assistants in media and information services, specializing in library services (German short form: FaMI), and prepared them for their future careers.

From the very beginning, the trainees were involved in all typical library workflows, from researching available print and digital media, ordering, cataloguing and invoice processing to information brokerage and public relations.

Already in their first year of training, our trainees gave individual introductions and advice to our institute’s scientists in English and were involved in the organization of weekly changing events and exhibitions for and with the scientists.
Furthermore, the trainees were encouraged to acquire additional qualifications during their time with us. These could be, for example, computer or language skills, depending on their respective preferences.

Since our team is currently fully staffed, please do not send applications for a training position. The next vacant training position will be announced here.
