Liquid/liquid dewetting - stationary solutions

Abstract

The aim of this talk is to provide some basic understanding of liquid-liquid systems with negative spreading coefficient. In particular stationary states, so called liquid lenses, are studied by introducing appropriate PDE problems. It is indicated how dimensionally reduced lubrication models can be derived from these flow problems and numerical solutions to them, both time-dependent and stationary are discussed.

Stationary solutions for the lubrication equations with suitable boundary conditions are studied using formal asymptotics and Gamma-convergence methods. In the latter case proof of existence and uniqueness of a global energy minimizer is given for the resulting sharp-interface model.
