Abstract

New applications of scientific computing in architecture and medicine require a switch from engineering CAD to Virtual Reality (VR) data structures. In the later much emphasis is on Constructuve Solid Geometry (CSG) and Realistic Rendering is more important than precision. We are currently investigating a new family of methods for solving partial differential equations which are potentially capable of using CSG and VR. These are based on the fictitious domain embedding method, Chimera and Domain Decompositions. Convergence analysis and numerical tests will be presented.
