Rank and symmetries of signature tensors

Abstract

Since decades, signature tensors are useful tools in stochastic analysis. Recently algebraic geometers began to study signatures as an interesting family of tensors in their own right. We study their algebraic properties, such as thir rank, their symmetry and their conciseness, and we outline how these results can be used in practise by data analysts.
