Two-by-two upper triangular matrices and Morrey's conjecture

In this talk, I will explain why rank-one convexity implies quasiconvexity on the two-by-two upper-triangular matrices. This extends the result on diagonal matrices, proved by Müller in 1999. This is joint work with Bernd Kirchheim and Chun-Chi Lin.
