Nonlinear Algebra meets Quantum Chemistry

In Spring 2027, the Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) in Los Angeles will run a special research semester titled "Numerical Algebraic Geometry and Correlated Electrons: Generalized Grassmannians, Response Functions and Excited States”.

This one-day workshop features two of the IPAM organizers as morning speakers. They will offer an introduction to the scientific context. The connection between quantum chemistry and nonlinear algebra is a new frontier which offers many interesting opportunities for research projects. We will discuss some of them in the afternoon.
