Hi! My name is Elena Salguero, and I am a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Prof. Felix Otto at MPI, where I have been working since September 2023. Before that, I completed my PhD in Seville under the supervision of Prof. Francisco Gancedo.
I am interested in problems in Partial Differential Equations, especially those with applications in fluid dynamics and other natural phenomena. This field of research is very rich and interdisciplinary, and I enjoy combining techniques from areas such as harmonic analysis, complex analysis, and functional analysis to tackle these problems. My favorite types of problems are those involving free boundary dynamics; for example, modeling ocean waves, where the wave surface changes over time, creating various profiles.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing music, and all kinds of DIY projects. When the days in Leipzig are cold, my favorite activity is enjoying a good coffee with friends. In summer, I love biking to Cossi for a swim!
