Eikonal equations with discontinuities: uniqueness and numerical approximation

Abstract
We study the wellposedness of an eikonal equation with a discontinuous right hand side. Under suitable assumptions on the data we obtain a unique solution, which satisfies the equation in the (suitably extended) viscosity sense. We also analyze a finite difference scheme for approximating this solution.
