The Research Group Discrete Sets in Geometry of Samantha Fairchild at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MiS) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our community exploring mathematical frontiers in interdisciplinary fields.
MPI MiS is a research institute located in Leipzig, Germany. Our research advances outward looking mathematics. We develop mathematical methods for applications, and we translate problems from the sciences, humanities and engineering into mathematical challenges.
We are committed to innovative fundamental research, and to transferring concepts and structures from mathematics into other academic fields. In our interdisciplinary approach we tackle mathematical and scientific questions by means of scientific exchange, collaboration, and cooperation with researchers from all over the world.
We seek outstanding scholars who enjoy working in a collaborative environment and an interest in working in areas such as:
Successful applicants will be offered great research opportunities in an excellent working environment. Close interaction with other research groups at the institute, in particular with the Geometry, Groups, and Dynamics Group of Anna Wienhard and the Nonlinear Algebra Group of Bernd Sturmfels, will be possible and encouraged.
Deadline: December 7th (until the position is filled)
Starting Date: Flexible
During the application process, you will be asked what type of position you are applying for,
please select "Postdoc Geometry".
When asked for your mentor,
please choose "Samantha Fairchild".
The Max Planck Society is striving for gender diversity. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and explicitly encourage applications from women and others who would bring additional dimensions of diversity to our institute. The Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified candidates.
