Kathlén Kohn is a PhD student at TU Berlin under the supervision of Bernd Sturmfels and Peter Bürgisser.

Her research interests are in algebraic geometry, as well as in its applications and computational aspects. Her thesis focuses on subvarieties of Grassmannians, including their applications to computer vision. Additionally, she is interested in music theory and practice, and in how these areas can interact with mathematics.

Kathlén visits MPI MiS on a regular basis. During her current visit she is working with Boris Shapiro and Bernd Sturmfels on moment varieties of polytopes.
