My name is Gianira Alfarano, and I am currently a PhD student in the group of Applied Algebra at University of Zurich (Switzerland), under the supervision of Joachim Rosenthal.
My research interests lie in algebraic coding theory and its connections with finite geometry, finite fields and combinatorics. Recently, I started to work also on the q-analog of some combinatorial objects, such as q-matroids and q-polymatroids, and their links with the theory of codes in the rank metric. I am regular visitor of MPI since 2020.
Besides math, I enjoy spending time outside in nature, cooking and eating good food.
