Yairon Cid-Ruiz is a postdoctoral researcher in the Nonlinear Algebra group of Bernd Sturmfels, at Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften (MiS) in Leipzig. He finished his graduate studies at Universitat de Barcelona under the supervision of Carlos D’Andrea.

His main research interest is commutative algebra and its interactions with algebraic geometry and combinatorics. He likes topics related to blow-up algebras, local cohomology, syzygies, regularity, and edge ideals. He is particularly interested in the relations between blow-up algebras and certain criteria for the birationality of rational maps.

Recently, he got interested in D-modules and its computational aspects.
