Galen Dorpalen-Barry

November 18, 2022

Galen Dorpalen-Barry is a Postdoc at the Ruhr-University in Bochum. She got her PhD from the University of Minnesota in 2021 under the supervision of Vic Reiner.

Galen’s research focuses on algebraic combinatorics and discrete geometry. She mainly works on problems related to hyperplane arrangements, (oriented) matroids, posets, and combinatorial aspects of commutative algebra. Some of her favorite objects are geometric lattices, nbc sets, Möbius functions of posets, Varchenko-Gelfand rings, and (conditional) oriented matroids. Recently, she has been working with Shi arrangements, crystallographic root systems, R-labelings of posets, and ab-indices.
