Alheydis Geiger is a graduate student at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen.
During her time at the University of Warwick, where she got a Master’s Degree in 2018, she discovered her fascination with tropical geometry. For her Master’s Thesis, she worked on the realizability of infinite families of lines on general smooth tropical cubic surfaces supervised by Diane Maclagan.
She is interested in the connections between algebraic and tropical geometry, especially in tropical cubic surfaces and their lines. She visited MPI MiS in Leipzig for a pre-meeting on the 27 Questions regarding cubic surfaces in May 2019.
At the moment Alheydis finishes her Master’s Degree at the Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen under the supervision of Hannah Markwig. She plans to start her PhD studies in autumn 2019 with Hannah Markwig and Diane Maclagan as supervisors and looks forward to new experiences and insights into tropical algebraic geometry during the time to come.
