April 13, 2020

Janin Heuer is a PhD student at TU Braunschweig under the supervision of Timo de Wolff. She wrote her Master thesis at Goethe-University Frankfurt on the topic of sparse recovery and semidefinite programming.

Janin's mathematical interests lie in polynomial optimization, particularly, studying sums of nonnegative circuits as a certificate of polynomial nonnegativity. Her work is centered around finding ways to expand nonnegativity certificates and exploring their applications. She is always excited to broaden her mathematical background and therefore enjoys visiting MPI MiS for workshops on various topics.

Outside of the office, Janin enjoys classic literature, science fiction, baking, and everything involving chocolate.
