Nonlinear Algebra People - 2022

Ben Hollering

June 22, 2022

My name is Ben Hollering and I am a postdoc in the nonlinear algebra group at MPI MiS. I recently completed my PhD at North Carolina State University under the direction of Seth Sullivant. My research interests are in Algebraic Statistics and combinatorics. I am particularly interested in problems concerning graphical models and mathematical phylogenetics. Recently, I have been focused on identifiability for various classes of graphical models, the algebraic structure of phylogenetic networks, and the combinatorial structure of correlated equilibria. At MPI I hope to learn more about the more computational aspects of my field such as computational algebra and convex optimization.

Outside of math I enjoy visiting coffee shops, reading fantasy, and playing video games with my friends.
