Nonlinear Algebra People - 2019

Serkan Hosten

July 16, 2019

Serkan Hosten is a professor at the San Francisco State University, Department of Mathematics. His research interests lie in the application of algorithmically inspired methods in non-linear algebra to optimization and statistics. These days he thinks about maximum likelihood degree of toric varieties, sum-of-square decompositions of symmetric polynomials, and primary decomposition of various algebraic statistical models.

"Summer School on Randomness and Learning in Non-Linear Algebra" brought him to MPI Leipzig. He will most likely return in the near future.
