Nonlinear Algebra People - 2019

Yelena Mandelshtam

July 30, 2019

Yelena Mandelshtam is a summer visitor in the Nonlinear Algebra group at MPI. She graduated with her bachelor’s from Stanford University and will start her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley in the fall.

Yelena’s mathematical interests are very broad and she is still exploring them. This summer at MPI MIS she has been researching techniques to calculate volumes of spectrahedra with hopes of applying them to solve differential equations.

When she isn’t doing math, Yelena enjoys playing board games, listening to music, rock climbing, vegan cooking, and going to the beach.
