Nonlinear Algebra People - 2022

Henrik J. Munch

September 22, 2022

My name is Henrik J. Munch, and I am a PhD student in physics at the University of Padova in Italy, under the supervision of Professor Pierpaolo Mastrolia. I received my Master's degree in physics from the Niels Bohr Institute in Denmark, which is also my country of origin.

I am interested in using tools from nonlinear algebra to study Feynman integrals. These integrals appear in high-energy physics calculations, and are relevant for understanding experiments at the Large Hadron Collider. In previous work, I have studied these integrals from the perspective of GKZ hypergeometric systems and D-module theory. I am currently engaged in numerically evaluating Feynman integrals using tropical integration.

I will be visiting the MPI from February to June 2023. During this time, I hope to apply tools from algebraic geometry and the theory of convex polytopes to study Feynman integrals, and a related class of integrals coming from string theory.

In my free time, I enjoy going to concerts and playing music (feel free to look up my death metal band Sunless Dawn). Moreover, I like to relax by taking long walks in the woods.
