Alessandro Oneto is an assistant professor at Università di Trento. He did his undergraduate studies at the Università Degli Studi di Genova where he was mentored by Anthony V. Geramita. He got is PhD in Mathematics at Stockholm University in 2016, under the supervision of Boris Shapiro. He started his new position in April 2020, after spending his postdoctoral years between Nice, Barcelona and Magdeburg.

His research interests are in algebraic geometry and commutative algebra, in particular in questions connected to tensor decompositions. His first visit at MPI Leipzig was in September 2016 and since then he came back several times to attend conferences and discuss mathematics with some of the local members of the Nonlinear Algebra Group. In particular, during his year at OVGU Magdeburg as a Humboldt Research Fellow in the group of Thomas Kahle.

His ideal after work: having a run, cooking for a group of friends, sharing a bottle of wine and going to listen to some live music.
