Elina Robeva

Elina Robeva is an assistant professor in the mathematics department at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.

Her research is on algebraic statistics, in particular, in the areas of graphical models, total positivity, and tensor decompositions. Elina is very excited about finding rich combinatorial and algebraic structures in problems arising from statistics and machine learning. In the fall of 2020, she is teaching an online topics course on tensor decompositions and their applications that everyone is welcome to attend sites.google.com/view/ubc-math-605d/.

Elina visited MPI Leipzig in the summer of 2018 for the summer school on real algebraic geometry. She finished her PhD in 2016 at UC Berkeley under the supervision of Bernd Sturmfels.

In her free time, Elina enjoys hiking, camping, kitesurfing, and being with her family.
