April 28, 2020

Tim Römer is a professor at Osnabrück University. He works on applied algebra and commutative algebra.

Currently, one of Tim's favorite research topics is the study of systems of polynomial equations with a great deal of symmetry and their asymptotic behavior as well as their use in various fields of research. In general, he is particularly interested in the application of algebraic methods in other areas like algebraic statistics and probability theory, combinatorics, data analysis, discrete geometry, machine learning, and signal processing.

Since the foundation of the Nonlinear Algebra group in Leipzig, Tim regularly participates in their activities and collaborates with their members. He is very excited about the upcoming Workshop on Applied Algebra in Data Science at MPI MiS, which is he is organizing together with Timo de Wolff and Frank Röttger.
