Nonlinear Algebra People - 2019

Despina Stasi

August 1, 2019

Despina Stasi is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL, USA. Her research is interdisciplinary in the problems considered, the techniques employed and the collaborators involved and intersect areas of (Discrete) Mathematics, (Theoretical) Computer Science, (Algebraic) Statistics, and Probability. She has worked on the threshold and extremal properties of random discrete and algebraic structures, sampling methods and goodness-of-fit tests for statistical network and table models, and, propositional knowledge bases and machine learning methods in nonlinear algebra.

Despina visited the Max-Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences and lovely Leipzig this July to co-organize the MPI and NSF-funded "Summer School on Randomness and Learning in Non-Linear Algebra".
